The new face of shopping
"David Smith Goes Shopping"

David Smith walks into his local Wal-Mart, and the armed entry guard watches him as he walks through the automatic double doors. The automatic door greeter computer announces, "Good evening David Smith, please take a shopping cart if you need one." David grabs a cart, heads towards the bread isle and selects his favorite brand and puts it into his cart.
He then goes to the shoe department, and looks at several styles of shoes that he would like to buy. He grabs the first pair off of the shelf, looks at it for a few seconds, then puts it back. David then grabs two other pairs, looks at them for a little while longer each, and then puts them back also. David then finds another pair, and looks at them for several minutes, takes them out of the box, tries them on, and then decides to put them back. After a few more minutes he sees another pair he likes, grabs them, puts them in his cart and starts to leave the shoe department. Then changes his mind, goes back, puts the shoes back, and grabs the pair that he tried on and put them in his shopping cart.
After leaving the shoe department, David Smith goes pick up some cat food, a tee-shirt, and a few other products. David then takes his cart towards the exit, but stops to grab some plastic bags from the dispenser, and put most of his items into the bags. Then to pushed the cart, and his items out first of the the exit double doors. The armed exit guardlooked him over, and watched as the courtesy light illuminated green. The armed guard nodded, and David exited the Wal-Mart and pushed the shopping cart to his car, and unloaded it.
David then looked around for the card return area, and groaned beause he had parked so far away from it. Tired of paying the fines associated with general public endangerment, he decided to push the shopping card back to the return area instead of paying the fine this time. David then climbed into his car and started his drive home.

How Does All This Work?

The key piece of technology that will allow all this to work is a very tiny device, that transmits a serial number via a radio wave to a remote reader. As this device become extremely small, cost effective, and resilant to damage it will be able to be placed in every new product that is manufactured through out the entire world, so that each and every item will have a unique serial number. This will be the RFID Tag.
There will be remote readers installed nearly everywhere in the store, so that the store's inventory can be tracked in real time by store employees and law enforcement to gather demographic information and to manage theft ("loss prevention"). Using the series of remote readers in the shelves, floors, walls, doorways, and in any other locations around the store the exact location of every item in the store will be able to be tracked by computers and information about them displayed in the security area.

Gathering Demographic Information

Stores will be able to gather information about their customers and their products unlike ever before. Information will be able to be known about not only which customer's purchased which products, but information about the decision making in the purchase as well. There are several sets of information that the stores may track in relation to not only the individual but also to the different areas of Demographics (race / age / sex / etc):
  • How long a customer stands infront of a shelf before deciding which item to purchase
  • If a product is put back onto the shelf after it is picked up, or if it is put back on the shelf after it is put into the basket
  • If the customer pickes up two similar products and then puts one back on the shelf and one into their shopping basket
  • How long it takes a customer to make a decision to put an item in the basket

  • Guard at the entrance

Terrorism is problem. Especially domestic terrorism. To keep their customer's safe, stores will have an armed guard or law enforcement agent at the entrance to ensure that known terrorists or suspecious persons are not allowed entry and are arrested if necessary. This will generally be done via a specalized RFID tag that will have initially inserted into credit cards, then into drivers licenses, then into the national ID, and eventually for security and convienced reasons physically inserted into the individual themselves. By the time the stores are fully automated, the special RFID tags ("your digital angel") will be inserted in a large amount of the population. When a customer enters the store, the tag is read by the readers in the door, and a quick check is done to ensure the customer is a "green light". If so, then they continue through the doorway without event to start their shopping experience. However, if they are given a "red light", then the secondard doors will not open, and the primary doors will not re-open after they have closed, and the armed guard or law enforcement agent will detain the individual until a further investigation can be completed through the criminal courts system. There will also be a "yellow light" if the individual is carrying any RFID tagged items that can not be taken into the store (firearms, knives, tasers, cameras, certian cell phones, recording devices, etc). This will allow the armed guard to confescate these items before the customer enteres the store, ensuring the safety of all customers in the store.

    Paying for Purchases

Billed as a win-win situation for both the store and for consumers, purchasing items will become as easy as walking out of the store with the item. A customer will merely find an item they want at the store, and leave with the item. When the product leaves the store, the store will deduct the cost of the item and any taxes and fees necessary from the customer's debit (bank) account that is tied to their national ID. If there is not enough in the account, the store will automatically charge it to the credit cards or credit lines. Consumers will be able to change this sequence easily with an online web based form any time they please. If for some reason the customer does not have enough funds or credit to pay for the item, the secondary doors will not open, and they will have to leave items in the store that they can not aford. The armed guard will be there to ensure there are no "smash and run" type events, or to enforce any restrictions on purchases that the individual may have.
However without the large number of cashiers in the store, the stores will be able to save money on employment costs, which means they will be able to pass the savings onto the customer through the price of the product. This will not however take into account the high cost of installing all of the technology, the higher employement cost of the armed guards, and the masses of new employees behind the scenes analyzing the information the RFID gives them about their products and customers.

    Shopping Cart Fees

Large stores will convince local city or county governments to make it a minor crime to leave a shopping cart in a non-return area, with the penality being only a minor fine. As everyone knows shopping carts in the parking lot can be a agervation, and from time to time a danger, most stores have put return areas all over the parking lot. However many customers still will leave the basket in the middle of the parking lot, so stronger steps will have to be taken. This will be sold as a win-win-win situation. Customers will not have to worry about damage to ther car any longer, or parking spaces taken up by only a shopping cart. The store will not have to spend as much money on employees gathering up all the shopping carts from the parking lot. The local government will have a new source of revenue. As time goes on, the number of return areas will decrease, and the amount of the fines will increase. The fines will automatically be deducted from the violators bank account or charged to their credit cards, and refunded if they show up for court and are found not-guilty. But with the wealth of evidence against them, including the RFID tags identifying their every step, and the cameras supporting that information, very few violators will try to win battles like this in court and risk paying extra court fees. With every person identified, and every item identified, this becomes easy.

    Fines for littering

It is unlikely that each and every item will be tagged and serial numbered. For example, the plastic wrapper on a sucker probably will not be, but there probably will be one in the stick. The paper wrapper for your hamburger may not have one, but the bag it came in, or the cup you drink out of may have them. As the RFID becomes more entrenced, local governments will find new ways to inforce the anti-littering laws. If a member of a trash clean up team cleaning up the sides of the road finds an item that has an RFID tag in it, it will be possible to fine the last owner of the item for littering. Typically, these fines will come out of the bank account or charged to the credit card automatically and a notice of the liter be sent to the violator. Repeat offenders may have higher fines. This will generate much needed income for local governments.

    More Demographics

As items are purchased with RFID tags, the tags will stay active, and those that operate the RFID readers will be able to gather information about their customers items and sell that information to stores, manufactures, data mining groups, and others. For example, if an individual goes into a national chain coffee shop, the readers in the shop will note every item that the individual has on them, especially clothes and electronics. That information will then be stored and sold at a profit. Manufacturers and distributors will be able to determine how many of Shirt-X and Shoes-Y are still being worn, how long they seem to last, etc. As RFID tagged items go into the trash, readers at the sorting facilities will be able to note that an item is no longer in service for even more information for those in the trade.

    Electrical Lines Internet

A newely emerged technology will allow internet access across the power lines, with no special wiring or plugs. Merely plug the device into the electrical outlet, and any internet connection device (like a computer) will be able to access the internet. There is talk that this form of internet will interfer drastically with AM and Short wave reception across the entire US.

    Internet Enabled Appliances

As Electrical Lines Internet becomes availible in more areas, many products will include micro chips which report their RFID number across the internet automatically to the manufacturer (or authorized agency). Some items will also include RFID readers and will be able to read other items and report that information as well. For example, refridgators will be able identify that the meat has been recalled, and the individual will get a phone call from an agency to inform them of the recall. Another refridgator possibility is that it can have a cell phone call place to an individual when they are identified that they are pulling into a store parking lot that they need to pick up milk, eggs, and butter.

    Home Security Companies

Home security companies will start to offer a new service where they install hidden RFID readers through the house, so that if there is an intruder who gets past some of the other measures, they will be able to track 'abnormal movement' or even unauthorized personal in a persons home while the owners are gone. This will of course also keep track of all the owners and occupants movements, and gather huge amounts of information about RFID tagged items.

    Cash

To help fight terrorism and the drug trade, cash will have RFID tags put into them so that money will be able to be trackable. Eventually cash will be removed from circulation entirely, and the only way to pay for items will be with credit cards, debit cards, or bank drafts.

    Toll Roads

A huge number of toll roads will be built all over the country. All cars will be equiped with Toll Tag, a special version of the RFID taggs with much bigger antennas so that the read distance will be extended. The Toll Tag will automatically deduct the toll amounts from a bank account or charge them to a credit card. While the toll roads are introduced, there will be a cash lane option, but as time goes on there will be a series of rate increase on the cash lane that will not apply to the Toll Tag. Eventually the cash lanes will be slowly removed one by one until they are all gone.

    Traffic Sheds

Departments of Transportation will, after the toll roads are mostly implemented, start changing the way traffic patterns work. People driving through neighborhoods at high speed to avoid driving on the Toll Roads will become a safety problem. These "alternate routes" will be blocked off, parks built where roads were, or other ways to keep those who are trying to avoid paying the toll fees from using the alternate routes. Long term the effect will be that there will be "traffic sheds" created which are small areas of free road access that have no free road entry or exit. These traffic sheds will be attached to each other via Toll Roads. Thus eventually the only way to get from one arear of the city or out of the city will be via the toll roads. All other access will be limited to a local neighborhood.

For many years I have been dreaming...

While still a teenager I began to look at the news, politics, history, and the universe in general. What I found was that things did not make sense. I did not know why, and with hind sight still do not know why. But either way I started praying for wisdom. I didn't think that I found any, but I continue to learn anyways. After spending four years in the military, all the things that made no sense, made even less sense. However, I noticed that my dreams changed. I specifically noticed while I was in Cuba, and consider this my original awaking period. The dreams had changed for a while, but I have never been able to be sure when, as it was a slow change over time.
My dreams had always been very colorful and strange. And even as a teenager, there were many daily life minor events that I had predicted based upon my dreams. However I do not believe these predictions were psyhic, they were just well educated guesses. And not all of them were right. But my dreams transformed from a merged hodge-podge of taking events of daily life and people of daily life into more long term future dreams.
        Tyipcal dreams were things like:
  • A soldier in a foriegn war over the period of several years.
  • Living a daily life, for months or years, then having and surviving a disaster, and then living a daily life for many years aftewards.
Some dreams are a lifetime. Waking up from these dreams can be very difficult, as the dreams are so realistic, and in my mind I have lived for 60,70, or even 80 years. With that many years of memories of daily events, family struggles, loss of loved ones, and such, then to wake up leads to a "Where am I" syndrome. This problem only lasts a few seconds, as the dream fades quickly unless I struggle to remember it.
As I looked at these dreams I though that what I was being shown, or was seeing, was possible future events. Many of these dreams had natural disasters, or more commonly man-made disasters (unrest, economic collapse, war, etc). Many of the disasters that I thought that I saw, was sure of, etc, never came to be. Although there were a couple of questionable predictions that were accurate.
If I am making predictions, and am not accurate, then I find myself questioning the source of the predictions. I started praying for wisdom again. And then I had an ephifany, that I had been praying for wisdom in the past so that I could understand the past and the future. I had not prayed for quick simple answers, but that is what I was behaving like I was recieving. Wisdom requires knowledge and understanding, which take time, a long time. That is what I was recieving, I was just not interpeting it correctly.
With this knowledge in hand, I have been re-evaluating all that I know, all that I learn, and all that I dream, in the search for wisdom. As I understand, I intend to write. Hopefully I'll understand it all myself, and maybe help someone along the way.

  • Are you a psyhic?

No. I have no special abilities. Do not view what I wrote as such. Do not view what I write as "predictions". They are not.
